The original is still very good, with the third generation my wife and I had a great time at the box. Forgiving and somewhat simpler, it doesn't take much to do well. The 2k round with a tungsten guide rod looks solid and with a set of aftermarket sights it can be a long shot. Easy to learn with not too big for people except for the smaller hidden characters.
I bought a generation 1 17 in the late 80's and early 90's and have had it on countless rides and it runs like a champ every time. I have several pistols. But my secret stuff has moved on.

This is one of the best 9mm pistols out there. I know there are a lot out there, and the Glock 19 is #1 in the US, but the light, thin, fully loaded Glock 17 Gen 4 9mm feels great with the backstrap including the beavertail because NATO FMJs are good practice, not rubbish. High pressure for cheap training ammo. I usually use a Glock Model 21 in 239-grain NATO .45 acp, but this is my favorite. I haven't tried a Gen 5 yet, and I'm generally more comfortable with the same Gen 4 duty Glocks. A better review meeting can help resolve FTE issues or improper layoffs.

Front and back in the company... Um? ... Isn't it the greatest? Credit card. Always being big and putting runs into the goal like a champ? Check that out too. It actually survived and thrived through years and years of torture tests by various agencies, police departments, and the military? This will also be a check. If you have never trusted your life with a Glock 17, you cannot appreciate the convenience that many, both law enforcement and civilians, have had in having it on their side. Take one. You'll see what I mean.
Bought it used but don't know its history. I modified the trigger and striker assembly to improve the trigger pull and added fiber optics. It's 100% guaranteed! I got it about 7 years ago. Steel cans, factory rebuilds, old guns - they just gobble it up and spit it out! I have many pistols and buy and sell them, but this gun I keep.
I purchased a G17, Gen4 for a single action 9mm for range use. I used to shoot 40 calories. The ease of shooting and feel are excellent. It includes several back brackets, which is definitely a plus. I installed the Ultimate Pyramid Flat Face Trigger combo, extended slide release, and optical sights. However, it immediately shoots well. In total, I have about $900 on this gun, which I feel is worth the price of my choice. It fits my hand perfectly, accurate, low recoil, crisp shutdown, quick return, good balance and reliable. The picture from the holster is soft, but not too big for concealed carry. Good for rifles and used during tack operations. We highly recommend this rifle to both new and experienced shooters.
The nice gun has never tried to make it up by shooting 4 18 rounds as fast as possible but it is not biased and is fairly balanced.
First Glock, How'd I Do? California No Less.
I've owned the Gen4 Glock 17 for two years and feel it is one of the best 9mm pistols on the market today. I installed the "Ultimate Pyramid Trigger Assembly" and fiber optics. These options improve the performance of this pistol. In addition, the large waist and beaver tail provide a good feel and comfort. Due to the size and shape, it is comfortable and soft to have a good bouquet. Needless to say, this is essential for speed in obtaining eye alignment for quick on-target shots. As a duty gun, it is lightweight so you won't get tired of carrying a heavy weapon all day. On the field or during tactics, the accuracy is very good. Shooting with my right or left hand is not a problem as it is well balanced. Whether I'm taking a precise or a quick shot, I never fail. Bottom line, I highly recommend this pistol for home defense, duty, or even competition shooting.
There was a time in 2015 when I confronted my friends that we didn't have any oil or cleaning supplies and nothing came quickly. It was British Army and we were glad we didn't have to clean our gun and also, it fired like a two-stroke engine but the gun wouldn't go off after a few rounds. As it turns out, I got into an intimate and personal situation and that thing continued and continued into an entire relationship. To this day I still dream about this gun that was issued to me and how it saved my life.
It can't knock, but not the carbon in your part and your bag. The old visions drove me crazy, but when I shot you with a gun guess what. it's working. Thanks for my life Gluck :).
I have owned a Glock 17, Gen 4 for about 5 years. To this day I still use my homework as an asset for several reasons; Endurance, Accuracy, Dexterity, Weight, Round Count, Balance, etc. The only changes I made to my gun were; Pyramid trigger, TruGlo Optic Sights, stainless steel competition spring, and grip tape. All of these items were purchased through. Having a “backstrap” option makes the gun feel good in my hand. Owning several other handguns, the Glock 17, Gen 4 is my "go to" gun and I am always confident when it is by my side.
